Dr. Brandi Discusses Why She Created Women’s Digital Health

Women’s Digital Health is a community-based company focused on increasing health literacy for women and building awareness of emerging digital health technologies. A woman’s health impacts all aspects of her life and the community she supports; however although women make up half of the world’s population, women’s health issues are often overlooked and overvalued.

The investment disparity between health issues that impact men and women is wide. For example, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women in the US, but women only make up 31% of the subjects of cardiovascular trials. Women are at 50% increased risk of developing a cardiovascular condition, yet only 4.5% of the $400M earmarked for cardiovascular research at the NIH was dedicated to identifying solutions for women.

Examples of how women’s health is downplayed across the healthcare ecosystem abound, and it is a large part of why Dr. Brandi created Women’s Digital Health. Women’s Digital Health provides women with the information they need about common health issues while highlighting digital health technologies that can support their efforts to live happy, healthy, and thriving lives. When women are healthy, their families and communities benefit. By equipping women with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for their health, Women’s Digital Healthy strives to build individual and collective awareness of the importance of women’s health.
